The Collection

The Bécalos collection begins with the trust and good will of millions of people that donate through the ATM machines without even knowing the students or teachers that will be benefited. The next step is the generosity of the participating banks that double their clients’ donations, and the donations of the Mexican Bank Association, Fundación Televisa and the Friends of Bécalos.

The collections goal for this year was more than $118,000,000 million pesos, exceeding the amount set for 2009. Even with the difficult economic situation it was possible to reach it. The achievement was not only monetary, it reflects the belief of millions of people that are convinced that education is the engine for change and that through it it’s possible to overcome the vicious cycle of the recurring crisis. This year Bécalos collected $123,288,887 million pesos.

From 2006 to 2010 Bécalos has allocated 100% of the money received to scholarship recipients. In total it adds up to $508,488,887 million pesos that are multiplied with the government and education institutions donations; with this scholarships in the amount of $1,374,866,480 million pesos have been generated.
